Dearest Sisters,
As many of you know, I am a tad unconventional. When it comes to going to church on Sunday, you will often find me still in my pjs and sitting in the living room. Going to online church!
This weeks presentation was amazing and inspiring! You can watch it yourself at Crossroads Community Church, go to Sunday Archive and choose Potter's Field
(just click the blue words above and you will be taken to the page)
At the end of the service the question came up for me... what is your mission?
Honestly, I feel so honored and blessed with where God has taken me in the work I do now. I often find myself praying for the folks who call us. Sometimes I share with them that I will pray, often times I don't.
We had a caller (lets call her MsA) a few days ago, a gal with BIG issues and there wasn't much in the way of solutions. I suggested she may want to check with local churches. She explained that she was an atheist and really had no church experience. My response was to let her know that a big part of being believers is bringing help to our fellow man... and that she may well get some assistance regardless of her own beliefs. We ended the call with me promising to check on additional resources and telling her that I would be praying.
Fast forward a few days. I'd checked with all my colleagues and just finished a call with a state agency that might be able to assist. When I called Ms A to ask for some additional information to pass on to the state worker, she asked me to hold for a moment while she checked some mail she had just received related to this problem. She literally opened it right then with me on the phone and read, "upon review it has be decided....." All the challenges she faced were put to rest with that one letter!
While I had contacted the state and others on her behalf, never was her name or any positively identifying information given to to anyone. Nothing I'd done on her behalf had any impact on how her situation got changed from dismal to celebratory. Nothing but prayer!
Before I hung up, I thanked Ms A for allowing me to be an "I" witness to this :-) The atheist I'd met on the phone a week before agreed it was a miracle and replied Thank God!
So speaking of praying, will you pray for me? I hope to continue to do "Gods Work" in this job! Satan isn't going to like it.... so I'll need all the help and prayer possible.
