God Works

Dearest Sisters,
As many of you know, I am a tad unconventional.  When it comes to going to church on Sunday, you will often find me still in my pjs and sitting in the living room.  Going to online church!
This weeks presentation was amazing and inspiring!  You can watch it yourself at Crossroads Community Church, go to Sunday Archive and choose Potter's Field
(just click the blue words above and you will be taken to the page)
At the end of the service the question came up for me... what is your mission?
Honestly, I feel so honored and blessed with where God has taken me in the work I do now.  I often find myself praying for the folks who call us. Sometimes I share with them that I will pray, often times I don't.
We had a caller (lets call her MsA) a few days ago, a gal with BIG issues and there wasn't much in the way of solutions.  I suggested she may want to check with local churches.  She explained that she was an atheist and really had no church experience.  My response was to let her know that a big part of being  believers is bringing help to our fellow man... and that she may well get some assistance regardless of her own beliefs.  We ended the call with me promising to check on additional resources and telling her that I would be praying.
Fast forward a few days.  I'd checked with all my colleagues and just finished a call with a state agency that might be able to assist.  When I called Ms A to ask for some additional information to pass on to the state worker, she asked me to hold for a moment while she checked some mail she had just received related to this problem.  She literally opened it right then with me on the phone and read, "upon review it has be decided....." All the challenges she faced were put to rest with that one letter!
While I had contacted the state and others  on her behalf, never was her name or any positively identifying information given to to anyone.  Nothing I'd done on her behalf had any impact on how her situation got changed from dismal to celebratory.  Nothing but prayer!
Before I hung up, I thanked Ms A for allowing me to be an "I" witness to this :-)  The atheist I'd met on the phone a week before agreed it was a miracle and replied Thank God!

So speaking of praying, will you pray for me?  I hope to continue to do "Gods Work" in this job!  Satan isn't going to like it.... so I'll need all the help and prayer possible.

Modern Technology Miracle

Dear Sisters,
I just have to share a modern miracle!

I volunteered today at HAS.  After finishing up, Charles came by and we walked from the office to a little Mexican restaurant a few blocks away.  After enjoying our meal, we walked another block to seek out a copy of Modern Healthcare Magazine at a local news stand.  Once finished there, the next stop was a trip to Powell's.

But before heading there, I checked for my wallet and to my dismay, it wasn't there.  It wasn't in my pocket or in my bag.  It was lost on the streets of Portland in a pretty busy area of the city :-(  Hoping that I'd left it at the Mexican place or at the office, we began to retrace our steps.  No sign of it at the restaurant... I whispered up a prayer as we walked to the office.  "OH LORD, please help!"

Probably less than a minute passed when my phone beeped with an email.  It was a message on Facebook-not my old FB acct. but a new one that focuses on my involvement with HAS; this one has more open privacy settings because it helps to share HAS with more people.  This in turn makes it easier for someone to search and find me....

Here is a exact copy of the message:
Subject: I found your wallet
"Hi, I found your wallet tonight on the sidewalk downtown Portland. Your drivers license and onpoint credit card and home depot credit card are still in it, along with some club cards. There was no cash in it. I live downtown on the Park Blocks in the Ladd Building. You can pick it up from 12pm-6pm tomorrow at the concierge desk."

Anyone interested in doing this?

Here is a 30 day series online that we could do together.  It includes teaching, health, prayer and sharing of the Word plus personal coaching.  There is a cost, $30, but it is far cheaper than a latte a day and includes recipes!

PRAYERS

Hello everyone!

Did you get an email form titled PRAYERS from my email account on Google docs?  If so, I bet you are wondering, "What is this?!"  Here is what its all about...

Rose and were talking about prayers today; sharing them, praying together, taking joy in the answers, and just becoming aware of God in our lives everyday. In my volunteer work, I've been creating lots of documents with Google docs and got to wondering, why not one for the blog?  A tool to easily share our PRAYERS.

So, it has been designed with you in mind.  A method to share our hearts of prayer together.  We can chart (literally, a chart is part of the form!) our prayer year together.  Won't it be fun to see how God stopped in each day?  What a privilege to pray for each other, and WITH one another!

Its easy to join in.  Just fill in the form :D

And you can feel safe in sharing, only people who are "invited" can see the results.  To get an invitation, you just fill in the form once and then you'll get back information on what is next.  When you answer the questions, you can pick and choose what you want.  There are no required answers.  (To start you can even just put TEST in one of the fields if you don't have a specific topic to share yet.)

If you didn't get the form, look to your top right on this page.  All you have to do is click and go :-)   That is also how you can access it each time you want to send an update.

Hope that you will try this with us.  There are so many blessings to be had through sharing our hearts and prayers.

Your sister through His love,
Margie

Happy New Year!

Well, here we are, several days into 2011. Can't believe how fast time goes!  Wishing each of you a wonderful New Year!!

Have you made resolutions?  Have you already broken resolutions? Easy come, easy go they say ;-0

I'm looking forward to seeing how God puts the puzzle pieces together this year.  My big decision for 2011 is to trust in Him.  That is something that can be as tough for us as keeping New Years resolutions, can't it?  Sometimes we pray for God to act in our lives but have a difficult time accepting His ways and realizing that His gifts are even better than we can imagine. One of my favorite Bible verses says:
O my soul, bless God.
From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name!
     O my soul, bless God,
     don’t forget a single blessing!
3–5     He forgives your sins—every one.
     He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence

Peterson, Eugene H.: The Message : The Bible in Contemporary Language. Colorado Springs, Colo. : NavPress, 2002, S. Ps 103:1-5

Can't even begin to tell you how many times I've read those verses and I believe them to be true - but sometimes I lose sight of the truth when faced with earthly problems and challenges.  Sometimes I get impatient with God's timing, sometimes the enemy talks me out of believing ....

In this New Year, I hope to do better with that.  My goals (resolutions, I guess) are to read through the Bible again, listening to hear the spirit speak to my heart ... And I am going to redo a Bible study that truly impacted my life.

It would be awesome to have some of you join along on this journey! (Just click the blue words above to get started)

Many blessings,
Margie
