It comes a time in everyone's life that its time to say goodbye to someone forever. My Grandfather is going down hill very fast and there is nothing anyone can really do about it. He has diagnosed with Alzheimer's, kidney failure, and now he has taken a couple of big falls. One of these happen to be last night as we were celebrating new life. (my baby shower) My Grandmother is at her end, she can't take care of him on her own. She needs help and medicare is holding up getting him in to a home. Its hard for her and us because we all love him so much and seeing his body, as a old man but what is inside is just a little boy. The disease is really taking a hold on him.
When my father, brothers, and I showed up to help last night he did not know who any of us were. When just two days before my son and I were there visiting, he remembered Gavin and I. He was calling us by name and sharing past memories. Last night was hard for us all, we all left in tears knowing that he probably wont make the next couple of months. He thought that he was nine years old and living in a Chicago orphanage. This is his past but its a very difficult one that he doesn't like to remember. As a child I had only heard a few stories of him there and they are not ones I take lightly.
We are all preparing our selves for when he passes but trying to get my mother past losing her father is going to be hard. She was the one that decided when her parents divorced to live with her dad. And now she has to live with out him. Her father has been her strength, her family, and her role model for her whole life.
So I am asking of all of you is your prayers for him in this time of need. Not just for him but for this Family this is going to be completely devastated when we lose him.
